The Amazon rainforests is known as the largest extent of tropical forest in the World, and this itinerary is focused on the most endangered Amazon region, named Belém Area of Endemism. The Belém Area of Endemism located in east of Pará State, from Tocantins river to west of Maranhão State. This region is severely affected by historical deforestation and fragmentation of native habitats, currently just 24% of primary forest exists in its limits. This tour comprises “terra firme” forests, “varzeas” (flooded forests), mangroves and hypersaline campos, and a plenty of endemic and endangered birds. The climate in the region is warm and humid most of the year, the best and recommended period for birding is from May to November, when the rainy season is out.
