The Amazon rainforests is known as the largest extent of tropical forest in the World, and this itinerary is focused in one of the largest and most preserved forests. The Amazonia National Park (NP) located in the heart of Amazon, West of Pará state on the margins of Tapajós River, comprises “terra firme” forests and “varzeas” (flooded forests) with a plenty of endemic birds from these habitats, the interfluve Madeira-Tapajós is rich in exclusive and restricted birds but due deforestation and illegal gold miners many species are threatened with extinction. The climate in the region is warm and humid most of the year, the best and recommended period for birding is from May to November, when the rainy season is out.
